How can you properly convey all the emotions we felt at our meeting of April 16, 2025.
We witnessed courage, perseverance, sacrifice, indomitable spirit and soul, resourcefulness, strength, creativity, initiative, and much, much more.
We witnessed Love.
We experienced empathy, tenderness, and generosity too.
We had the privilege of having as speakers Ms. Tegdra Samuel, the founder of The Gifts of Mobility Foundation and Inspired Gifts & Talents Publishing to support families of children with disabilities—like her daughter, Jazzmin.
And, the sensational Miss Jazzmin Samuel, who at just 26 years old, is a groundbreaking digital artist living with cerebral palsy. She creates mesmerizing abstract art using only her eyes and a Tobii Dynavox Eye-Gaze Device.
Because of cerebral palsy Jazzmin's body experiences many challenges. But don't be mistaken. This young lady has a sharp mind, is extremely bright, pays attention, and communicates clearly through a special device using her expressive beautiful eyes.
She smiles all the time and is extremely sweet.
Tegdra's and Jazzmin's presentation was captivating, touching, powerful, and awe-inspiring. We are so fortunate to have had the opportunity to spend time with these remarkable women. Words simply cannot express their impact on all of us.
Tegdra and Jazzmin stayed to have lunch with us. Jazzmin told us she likes pizza. For her birthday loves to party. She even complimented us. She participated on our conversations.
We are truly humbled.
Thank you! Tegdra and Jazzmin.
So, yes. There was laughter and tears on this meeting from beginning to end.
Rotarian Connie Heatter generously donated a beautiful, handcrafted shawl she crocheted especially to support our Club’s fundraising efforts. This stunning piece was auctioned today. The bidding started quickly with Maguerite Goulet who was in the meeting via Zoom. Hyon O'Brien almost got the shawl until everybody was outbid by Tomoko Supak. Not only did Tomoko win the gorgeous shawl, but in a lovely tender gesture, she gifted it to Jazzmin. Thank you! Tomoko.
Esther Brown made a generous contribution to Tegdra Samuel's foundation. Thank you! Esther.
Larry Bobber's birthday was today. This handsome young man is 90 years young. We are so happy we were able to spend it with you, Larry. Happy Birthday!
Lastly, the Easter Bunny came to our Club today. We played games, everyone won a prize, and everybody got an Easter Egg. 🐣🐰
We are thankful for the lessons learned, the experiences lived, and the opportunity to help in any way we can.

On Thursday, April 17, 2025, members of our club volunteered with the Mobile School Pantry. This program is so special. It provides healthy, fresh food for hundreds of homes.
President Evelyn Trinidad-Toraño, Marguerite Goulet, Rosario Acevedo de Higareda, Connie Heatter, Tomoko Supak, Carol Steiner, guest volunteer Anabel Walker, and guest volunteer Rotarian Randi Orpen worked for hours, first helping organizing all the vegetables and fruits, and when everything was ready, we helped distribute the food to 212 families.
Below is an excerpt from a thank you note the Hallandale Beach-Aventura Rotary Club received from Mobile School Pantry's CEO Zaina “Z” Wolland.
"Thank you so much to you and your incredible group for joining us yesterday at the Gulfstream Early Learning Center! We absolutely LOVE you all! Because of your support, 212 families—including 430 children—received the nutritious groceries they need to learn, grow, and thrive. Your energy, compassion, and commitment to service made a true difference, and we’re so grateful you all chose to spend your time with us".
We are humbled, and grateful to have opportunities like this one to serve.
President Evelyn Trinidad-Toraño
