WED., DECEMBER 11TH - DYNAMIC PUBLIC AGENCY
BROWARD METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION (MPO)

On December 11, 2024, we had two energetic speakers from the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization. Christopher Restrepo, and Ashley Mohni.

The Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is a dynamic public agency who's main job is to plan and coordinate transportation projects and programs in Broward County.

In their presentation, the speakers talked about the ever-changing and ever-challenging plans to improve anything related to transportation. They spoke to our Club about the expectations and plans Broward County has up to the year 2050.

No doubt the subject is of interest to all of us. We are eager to have Mr. Restrepo, and Ms. Mohni as guest speakers at our Club again.

MON., DEC. 16TH - ROTARY CLUB TOYS DONATIONS

Our members participated at a fun holiday event at the Gulfstream Early Learning Center on December 16. We brought all our Club's toys donations and organized the room for parents to come and select gifts for their kids! We also received great contributions from the Weston Rotary Club and from many other contributors. JAY’s Closet was paramount in collecting donations!

When we finished the workshop, we moved onto the auditorium, where we assembled a Photo Booth Balloon Arch for their upcoming events! We were an unstoppable team! Thanks to volunteers Evelyn Trinidad-Torano, Marushka Jilek, Colleen Brooks, Peter Vanek, and Marguerite Goulet. We are humbled and deeply touched by the large number of toys' donations, ensuring that many children have a Merry Christmas.

MONTH OF JANUARY 2025

THU., JAN 9TH, 2025 @ 9:30 AM - CHRIS MORRISON GOLF BALL DROP
MARKHAM PARK, SUNRISE, FL

Location: Markham Park & Target Range
Address: 16001 FL-84 (state road), Sunrise, FL 33326

The Rotary Foundation (TRF) Golf Ball Drop was created in 2013 by Chris Morrison, member and Past President of the Rotary Club of Coral Gables, to raise money to assist in Rotary District 6990 various grant programs.

It is that time of year once more when we come together to honor Chris Morrison for his tremendous support of the Rotary Foundation and to continue on the path he designed!

As always, our district is excited to host an event in memory of Chris Morrison, aimed at raising vital funds for this important cause.

Mark your calendars! The deadline to purchase tickets is December. This is a fantastic opportunity for everyone who wants to contribute and qualify for the Paul Harris Fellow recognition—whether through buying tickets or selling them to friends and family. Those who reach the PHF or the next level will be celebrated before our Paul Harris night!

You can get your physical tickets from our assistant governors and club presidents, or easily purchase them online at the following website.

www.rotary6990gbd.org

We have some incredible prizes lined up, so don’t miss out. The closest balls will receive the following winning gifts:

1. 2-night stay Bay Harbor & Coconut Bay Resort, Key Largo
2. $1,200 Voucher for Virgin Cruise
3. $600 Gift Certificate from Carroll Jewelers
4. 3-night stay for two guests at Di Sabatino Resort in Renaissance CIty of Ascoli Piceno (Italy)
5. Brunch for two at the Biltmore Hotel, Coral Gable

Can you imagine how many good things we can do in the world with such a donation and how much we can accomplish within our own communities through the DDF? For every four tickets sold, your $100 donation can for instance help provide new water filters capable of purifying over 200,000 gallons of clean, safe drinking water by removing 99.9999% of diseases from contaminated water.

We are counting on you.

Thank you for your support and your commitment to the Rotary mission.
