Sara grew up in York, Pennsylvania and has a huge extended family with whom she’s very close. Sara’s favorite activities include traveling (currently 31 states into visiting all 50 states), her exotic pets, anything involving the beach or ocean, dodgeball, volunteering, and spending time with family.
Sara’s education includes a bachelor’s degree in biopsychology and gerontology from Messiah University in Pennsylvania. Sara’s career began with 12+ years of working with individuals with autism, mental illness, and intellectual disabilities as well as providing eldercare. Sara moved to South Florida in 2018 and in November 2022 made a career change to construction working at ARCO/Murray, a design-build commercial general contractor.
Volunteering and giving back has always been engrained in Sara by her family since a young age when her family were top fundraisers for the Relay for Life and helped a lot with her church and missions. Sara has been a member of the Junior League for 7 years and achieved sustainer membership. Sara joined the Rotary Club of Fort Lauderdale/Cypress Creek in December 2022 and has been an energetic addition to her club. Sara especially enjoys service projects and joining other local clubs for their meetings and events.
Sara has volunteered with Showering Love since moving to South Florida in 2018. She has assisted with a variety of tasks including volunteering on site, social media, fund development, professional writing, public speaking, graphic design, and more! Showering Love provides mobile showers, wrap-around healthcare services, haircuts, and more to people experiencing homelessness 6 days per week in the tri-county area. Sara recently applied to be on the board of directors for Showering Love which will be voted on later this month. Sara’s favorite event with Showering Love is the Mother’s Day Tea Party which occurred on May 6, 2023. ROTARY - TURKEY/SYRIA EARTHQUAKE DISASTER RECOVERY EFFORTS |

As Rotarians our hearts go out to those in need following the devastation from the recent Earthquakes in Turkey and Syria! As a District we will be collecting funds as well as supporting and participating in Rotary Disaster Grants in this effort. Additionally, we have the opportunity to provide some hands-on volunteer efforts.

Also, for those that want to provide hands-on assistance, we are coordinating dates and times to volunteer at Global Empowerment Mission. They need assistance packing and sorting supplies in their Florida Headquarters in Doral.
