About Julie Folkers

Why Rotary:
As there were three generations of Rotarians ahead of me in my family, it was likely only a matter of time. I've looked up to my mom's civic & service efforts throughout my life, so when Sparkie moved to the Grove and found her Rotary home in our neighborhood, I finally had the chance to join in and become a 4th generation Rotarian. I hope to give back to my community and provide the example of service and good will for my children that my mom has been for me.

What Do I Do:
I had worked most of my career in a special area of Media Strategy & Buying called "Out of Home" ("OOH")-- all the advertising you can only see outside of your home (think billboards, etc.). After 20 years at agencies, now I'm head of product for a data and software company, Motionworks International, that helps measure population movement around the world -- which also helps measure the value and impact of OOH media. We also provide "population intelligence" insights for travel & tourism, real estate, and community planning.
