Prior to joining Memorial Healthcare System, Karey served as the Executive Director of the Catholic Community Foundation in the Archdiocese of Miami, and as the Senior Director of Planned Giving for the Archdiocese of Miami Development Corp., where she was instrumental in creating and implementing an archdiocesan-wide comprehensive planned giving program, serving as a resource to 107 parishes and over 60 catholic schools, and helped grow the endowment by over $85 Million.
Before transitioning into the nonprofit sector, Karey was a law partner at Doumar, Allsworth, Laystrom, Voigt, Wachs, Adair & Bosack, LLP (N/K/A Doumar, Allsworth, Laystrom, Voigt, Adair & Dishowitz, LLP), one of the oldest law firms in Broward County, FL, established in 1946, where her practice focused on contracts litigation, construction lien and mortgage foreclosures, and estate planning. Karey was the first woman and first Asian American law partner at the Fort Lauderdale based firm.
Currently Karey serves as Vice President of Programming for the Planned Giving Council of Broward County, a Development Board Member for St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church & School, Administrator for Memorial Legacy Leaders, a Development Committee Member for Sallarulo’s Race for Champions benefitting the Special Olympics Florida – Broward County, and a Contributing Writer for The Daily Drip. Karey is the Founder of Kaleidoscope Life (www.kaleidoscopelife.blog), an online blog focused on life, motherhood and well-being.
Karey is a graduate of the University of Florida, where she received her Bachelor’s of Science in Criminology and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and of Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center, where she received her Juris Doctor.
Karey is a member of the Florida Bar and is licensed to practice before the United States District Court, Southern District of Florida and the United States Supreme Court.
Karey and her husband, Kyle, live in Plantation with their three young children, Cole, Luke and Everly, and furbaby, Rocket.
