ROTARY DISTRICT 6990 CONFERENCE

The Hallandale Beach-Aventura Rotary Club was present at the Rotary District 6990 Conference in fabulous Key West the weekend of May 2, 2025.

It was an extraordinary opportunity to meet Rotarians of other clubs, see old friends, share ideas, and listen to outstanding presentations.

Rotarians Marushka Jilek, Georgia Winfield, Claudia Valderrama, and Club President Evelyn Trinidad-Toraño represented our Club.

Among many things, we took part of the End Polio Walk, we participated on learning sessions, we were able to explore Key West, joined the Kentucky Derby Cocktail Reception, and gathered at the Hospitality Suite.

Our Club received a GOVERNOR'S CITATION for outstanding and dedicated service to Rotary District 6990, 2024-2025!

We were also honored to receive on behalf of our Club Secretary Fran Markowitz the award for her induction into the District 6990 Hall of Fame.

TUE., MAY 6TH @ 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM - "ICE CREAM SOCIAL DAY"
2025 STAFF AND TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK

On May 6, 2025, the Hallandale Beach-Aventura Rotary Club had the honor of serving the staff and teachers at the Gulfstream Academy.

The School was celebrating their 2025 Staff and Teacher Appreciation Week.

Rotarians Carol Steiner, Randi Orpen, and Club President Evelyn Trinidad-Toraño were hard at work serving ice cream and snacks.

Teachers and staff were able to enjoy a well-deserved break. After all, they play a very important part in shaping the lives of our most precious treasure; our children.

We are grateful we were able to help School Principal Ms. Lynne Bonny, and Vice Principal Mr. Elmo Siggia on this special occasion. Indeed, a rewarding and fulfilling day.

THU., MAY 8TH @ 6 PM - 8:30 PM - UPPER DECK ALE AND SPORTS GRILLE
CLUB ASSEMBLY MEETING SOCIAL

On Thursday evening, May 8, 2025, our Club gathered at the Upper Deck ALE AND SPORTS GRILLE for our Club Assembly Meeting Social. It was great to see everyone and welcome back our Club Treasurer, Ozzie Pelaez.

President Evelyn Trinidad-Toraño assigned a number to all the ladies in preparation for a game we were to play for prizes! Evelyn revealed that when a number was called by one of the gentlemen, the lady with that number would either sing, dance, recite a poem, or tell a joke! It was great fun! Thanks ladies for the entertainment and thank you Evelyn for the prizes! I think our favorite prizes were the drink cousies from the Rotary Club of Marathon! (See Photos)

The highlight of the evening came when President Evelyn presented our beloved Club Secretary, Fran Markowitz, with the award for her induction into the District 6990 Hall of Fame! Congratulations on this well-deserved honor Fran! Fran’s daughter, Susie, and friend Phyllis were in attendance also!💛💙

President Evelyn also presented our Club with the Governor’s Citation for Outstanding and Dedicated Service to Rotary District 6990, 2024-2025, which was awarded last weekend at the District 6990 Conference in Key West.

SAT., MAY 10TH - SHARE COMMITTEE
ROTARY CLUB OF HALLANDALE BEACH-AVENTURA

The Hallandale Beach-Aventura Rotary Club is a proud member of the SHARE Committee.

What is SHARE? The purpose of this Committee is to scrutinize the District Grants' applications that have been submitted and make sure they meet all the criteria.

Once it is determined a Grant had fulfilled all the requirements for District Grants, they are included in the Spending Plan to be submitted to the Rotary Foundation for approval.

On Saturday, May 10, 2025, we worked for hours on this important endeavor together with other dedicated Rotarians. Alejandro Cascarano and Club President Evelyn Trinidad-Toraño represented our Club this year.
