Keisha Dunn-Pettis is the Director of Programs at the Heart Gallery of Broward. With a Masters in Public Administration from Nova Southeastern University, and a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Florida Atlantic University, Keisha has over 25 years of experience working in social services and child welfare. She served for two years on the Heart Gallery Board of Directors before transitioning to the Director of Programs role in September 2023.

The Heart Gallery's mission is to provide innovative programs that help to promote the adoption and enrichment of Broward's foster youth. It is one of over 100 independent heart galleries across the country, the first Heart Gallery was established in 2001. We work closely with ChildNet and the local foster care providers to seek adoptive families and other connections for these youth. GLOBAL EMPOWERMENT MISSION (GEM)

ADDED: THU., NOV 7, 2024: Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) responds to natural and manmade disasters all over the world. They host volunteers on a weekly basis at their worldwide headquarters in Doral, Florida. Volunteers pack boxes that support families in the first few days immediately after a disaster. Boxes consist of food, hygiene, socks, and other necessities.

This past Saturday, Hallandale Beach-Aventura Rotary Club President, Evelyn Trinidad-Toraño, volunteered at GEM putting together bags of toiletries for the victims of Hurricane Milton. The goal of that day was to put together more than 3,000+ bags of much-needed necessities.

MONTH OF JANUARY 2025

THU., JAN 9TH, 2025 @ 9:30 AM - CHRIS MORRISON GOLF BALL DROP
MARKHAM PARK, SUNRISE, FL

Location:
Markham Park
16001 W SR-84, Sunrise, FL 33326

The Rotary Foundation (TRF) Golf Ball Drop was created in 2013 by Chris Morrison, member and Past President of the Rotary Club of Coral Gables, to raise money to assist in Rotary District 6990 various grant programs.

It is that time of year once more when we come together to honor Chris Morrison for his tremendous support of the Rotary Foundation and to continue on the path he designed!

As always, our district is excited to host an event in memory of Chris Morrison, aimed at raising vital funds for this important cause.

Mark your calendars! The deadline to purchase tickets is December. This is a fantastic opportunity for everyone who wants to contribute and qualify for the Paul Harris Fellow recognition—whether through buying tickets or selling them to friends and family. Those who reach the PHF or the next level will be celebrated before our Paul Harris night!

You can get your physical tickets from our assistant governors and club presidents, or easily purchase them online at the following website.

www.rotary6990gbd.org

We have some incredible prizes lined up, so don’t miss out. The closest balls will receive the following winning gifts:

1. 2-night stay Bay Harbor & Coconut Bay Resort, Key Largo
2. $1,200 Voucher for Virgin Cruise
3. $600 Gift Certificate from Carroll Jewelers
4. 3-night stay for two guests at Di Sabatino Resort in Renaissance CIty of Ascoli Piceno (Italy)
5. Brunch for two at the Biltmore Hotel, Coral Gable

Can you imagine how many good things we can do in the world with such a donation and how much we can accomplish within our own communities through the DDF? For every four tickets sold, your $100 donation can for instance help provide new water filters capable of purifying over 200,000 gallons of clean, safe drinking water by removing 99.9999% of diseases from contaminated water.

We are counting on you.

Thank you for your support and your commitment to the Rotary mission.
