About Capt. Manohar Mahajan


Capt. Manohar Mahajan was born in Pune, India where after completing of high school studies he joined the Indian Merchant Navy. During his tenure in the Merchant Navy, he pursued higher studies in India and finally in Scotland, he received the highest education in his – Extra Masters with Prince Philip Charles Medal for topping all over the United Kingdom. He also gained membership to prestigious Institutes of the United Kingdom such as the Nautical Institute and The Chartered Institute of Transport. In his professional career Capt. Mahajan rose from being a Cadet on board ships to a ship Captain, and finally a shipowner. He is presently operating and managing his shipping company established some thirty years ago. He has served as a President of SCOF (Samunder Club of Florida Inc. – an organization of merchant marine officers of Indian Origin in south Florida)

Capt. Mahajan, after traveling all over the world, arrived and settled in Miami in 1986. In Miami, he pursued an MBA degree at the University of Miami, which he completed with a Salutatorian award and was subsequently inducted into the honor society Beta Gamma Sigma. Since 1989 Capt. Mahajan has been actively involved with the Indian Community in South Florida. He and his wife Sarita are the founders of Florida Indo-Cultural Society Inc., an organization founded for the propagation of Indian culture in the area, actively working since 1993. He is a Trustee Member of Miami Lakshmi Narayan Temple. He is also a founder of Shri. Ramchand & Smt. Prakash Devi Mahajan KVSCAA Scholarship Trust, a Trust to award scholarships to excelling as well as financially needy students in India.

Capt. Mahajan is actively involved in charity work in Miami and India through his Rotary Club Miami Airport, where he served as President for two terms and has been the Foundation Chairperson since. Under his leadership, several Rotary Global Grants were executed in India to help poor children, farmers, hospitals dealing with COVID-19, dialysis centers, mobile blood donations, and children with congenital heart diseases. Manohar Mahajan is passionate about learning and sharing the values and principles of Sanatana Dharma by furthering the vision and mission of IHU.

SATURDAY, APRIL 20TH, 2024
DANIA BEACH PIER - DISTRICT BEACH CLEANUP INITIATIVE

On Saturday, April 20th, we will have a Beach Cleanup by the Dania Beach Pier. This a District Beach Cleanup Initiative - all Clubs are invited to attend. Open to all. Please plan on arriving by 8:00 AM, as we would like to end this project by 10:00 AM. The address for your GPS location finder is: 300 N. Beach Rd., Dania Beach 33004.

The gathering point will be by the picnic tables in the shaded area north of the pier. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own refreshments and suntan lotion. Students will be eligible to earn Community Service Hours.
