Born in a small village in the suburbs of Pune, India to the parents who were uprooted from their native town during the partition of India, Capt. Manohar Mahajan joined Indian Merchant Marine after completion of high school. He travelled across the world while serving on merchant ships in ascending ranks from a cadet to a Captain of the ship.
Capt. Mahajan attained highest qualification in the shipping field – Extra Masters - in Glasgow Scotland and won a medal for highest marks all over the United Kingdom. Capt. Mahajan then joined a paper trading company in the United States and after seven years of service as the Vice-President of the company he started his own shipping company. He owned two cargo freighters and chartered several to carry cargoes across the oceans. He continues to provide shipping services, in addition to Mediation and Arbitration Services.
Capt. Mahajan joined Rotary in 1994 but had to leave in a couple of years for not being able to maintain attendance due to extensive travel. He joined again in 2015. Has been the Past President of Rotary Club Miami Airport for two consecutive terms, is the Club Foundation Chair, as well as the District Rotary Foundation Chair, and Assistant Governor for Area 4.
